Herdr Raises $6M Seed Round

We’re excited to welcome Herdr to the e2vc portfolio as part of their $6M seed round led by Bessemer Venture Partners, alongside Y Combinator and angel investors including Tobi Lütke, CEO of Shopify, Dane Knecht, CTO of Cloudflare, and Görkem Yurtseven, co-founder of fal.

Herdr is building an open-source AI agent runtime for terminals, based on a simple belief: terminals are where AI agents feel most natural.

As agents become a bigger part of how developers work, the way we interact with terminals will change with them. It won’t just be about giving an agent access to a terminal. Developers will need better ways to run agents, manage them, understand what they’re doing, and work alongside them.

That’s what Can is building with Herdr.

Following Y Combinator, the focus now is on making Herdr faster, more robust, and more extensible, while bringing together the machines already running it.

They’re also growing the team, in a very Herdr way. There’s no application form. You apply directly through the terminal via SSH. They’re looking for people who live in terminals, love Rust, experiment with new models and agent harnesses, and have strong opinions about how all of this should work.
